Another Installment

This morning, I heard Auntie Jo (Ivy’s Mum) talking to her little (11yo) brother, Jun. Hau, Ivy’s 23-year-old brother, was sitting at the table with them looking at Jun. Just from observing the scene I could tell there was tension and pressure.
Jun wanted to go to Evergreen, a not-so-decent secondary school. Her mother wanted him to study harder to get a better education. I could tell he wasn’t all that enthusiastic about studying. I reflected momentarily, thinking that it was probably better if Jun, even against his will, got a good education because he was too young to realise the importance of it. Then, I realised the same applied for me. Whether I want to or not, getting good grades in high school will probably be important for my future, and I should strive for a good future rather than a good present.
Meanwhile, I have an open question that I would like your opinion on. Everyone’s opinion. The question is:
Should I get an earring?
I think it would be cool. I wouldn’t do it for other’s to think I’m cool, I would do it because it would make me feel cool. I don’t know why it’s a good thing to feel cool, but I would like to. If not, well, I’ve lived 15 years without one (though I have considered it during those years) and can live life without it. Mum will probably say no anyway, but firstly, what are your opinions?

An update

This place needed an update, so I just thought I’d say that I met Solomon today. He is a nice guy, truly. I admire and respect him. I wish him luck in whatever ventures the future holds.

I must play Tactics Arena Online, or some other mindless game. Perhaps chess with myself.

Xin, out.

End of Year Reflection

It occured to me just yesterday that, in being so wrapped with Singapore, I had forgotten something.
I am no longer a Year 10. Unless by some freak chance I fail all my exams and they hold me back. Still, I must reflect on my progress nonetheless, depending on what progress it defined as. I’ll just say how far I’ve come since Year 9.
This has been the greatest year of my life, it truly has been. And greater still, it’s not over yet. I might even be going to an anime convention called Wei Con in Murdoch once I return from Singapore. So much has happened that I’ve learned so much about. I was the happiest I have ever been this year, but had many a downfall too. This is the first time I have known what it means to be a teenager. I have been quixotic. I have been stupid. I have been brilliant. This is the year I shone, the year I felt I truly took a grasp on who I was in life. I took an enormous step to developing my self identity at age 15. I’m sure there’s much more to discover, but for now, I am content with where I stand in life.
Maturity comes too quickly. There is a certain age you are generally accepted to be immature until.  That is middle school. As soon as you hit Year 11, you’re in senior school, and you have to tone down the humour. I suppose it would be better without a lot of the fart jokes that go around, but at the same time, it’s sad to see the barriers of society saying you cannot act this way any longer, this is now how you must act. I love being this age, I love being who I am. I love expressing it with everything I do and everything I say. I love my life, and I love everything that’s part of it. Well, most everything anyway.
Singapore in 2 hours or so. I guess I had better do something productive with what’s left of my time. Mm… I’ll see you soon Ivy. <3

Because Ivy wanted me to.

1) Ppost 5 weird or random facts about yourself.

2) When you’re done, write 5 people’s name, people whom you want to do this quiz next, then leave them a note to tell them to see your blog.

1. If I could live any one life, I would probably move to India and spend my days holding dying people, letting them know they’re loved.

2. If I could live a second life, it would probably be spent training in the mountains with Jack to become physically perfect, then becoming the greatest assassin alive.

3. I cannot stand the sight of myself brushing my teeth.

4. I… won’t say that one. Um… I dislike cheese.

5. If I could, I would take a loaded shotgun (the answer to all of life’s problems) and shoot Wallace [& Grommit] in the face. Blow that cheesy grin right off his head. Ugh.

In no particular order,

I don’t know enough about Taoism to call myself one, but from my limited knowledge, I have surmised that it is possible for one to find complete and total harmony in one’s self. There is always negative qi hidden in your mind, and you can express it when you feel the need to, but there is positive qi there too. Like any situation can be seen in good or bad light, the two exist, but it depends on which one you want to see. At any rate, meditation has become increasingly difficult for me lately. It’s hard to focus and balance the two, seeing as whenever I meditate it is to calm my negative side.
Hm… I need to work on this.
As a side note, Singapore in a week! Heaven help me, God bless you all.

Alo alo alo, what ‘ave we ‘ere? A bunch of good fer nuthin’ lonely tramps lookin’ for a brothel or sumthin’ of the sort eh? Well piss orf. This ain’ no ordinary brothel! I mean blog. Aheh heh heh… Alo =)

Just thought I could do with another entry. Firstly, I now listen to music on the way home from school. Yes yes, I know, you can try to re-attach your jaws later. While this may not seem so collosal to you, it’s a first for me, and I enjoyed it immensely. It shaped my mood. I had tears in my eyes for one song, I was nodding my head slightly for another, I was smiling for no apparent reason at the other passengers that gave me the evil eye, but hey. I enjoyed listening to a diskman, stereotypical as it is.

Next, we have the Answer of the Year Award.

Class: Politics.

Teacher: Osnain.

Student: David Graham.

Subject: What responsibilities does the State Government have?

Question: "State!"

Answer: "Er… 18.5 per cent!"

Class: *blinks*

Class: *roflmao’s*

David: "What?"

Apparently Steve whispered the answer in his ear. David’s a fat, tall, blonde kid that enjoys being stupid and calling me names. Heh, man that was quality.

Well, so long, and thanks for all the fish!

I found a sheet of paper from about half a year ago that had all my goals, short term, medium term and long term written down. I was doing an exercise from "Let’s Get Motivated", as I mentioned in a previous entry. It’s interesting to note they haven’t changed at all. This is a more recent attempt to finish getting through LGM but it’s basically the same as the one from March.

Long Term Goals

I am a psychologist or counselor, who is very helpful to anyone who seeks his advice.

If that is not possible, I will be a policeman who can think on his feet and help people.

Because I care for people, and can make judgements on what people need, either of these jobs will suit my purpose well.

I am athletic, and enjoy testing my limits, so a police academy sounds like a place where I can hone my physical self.

I am intelligent, precocious and level-headed, so psychology is right down my alley. I will look into my options later in my high school years.

I hope Ivy and I will be married some time around here, and with our combined income, set up a casual life together, where existence is happy and cherished. Nothing else really matters, except finding the happiness in every situation in life. I will make an effort to treasure each day I spend with Ivy, and do something special for her.

In order to make these LTG’s efficient, I will have to change in the following ways:

Ah… None at the moment. It’s just a matter of my parent’s consent.

Medium Term Goals

I have finished high school and am looking at either policing or psychology in their respective areas.

I may have a part time job, working wherever I can to help pay the bills, probably still living in my parent’s house (God bless them).

I’ll look more into this later.

Short Term Goals

Study as much as needed per subject.

Spend 15 minutes every morning going through those autonomy exercise things.

I will arrive at class promptly, ready to learn.

I will always be positive at every opportunity to show the world I am a winner.

Get ready for action baby, yeah!

Basically, my goals were all revolving around keeping Ivy happy to my greatest ability, and seeking a career in psychology. It’s interesting to see how much a person can change in a year, and yet remain so similar.

More meaningless meaning!

Eureka! I’ve further developed my ideas. For some astranged reason, I seem to be overwhelmed by my thoughts of the world and how it works around this age. Hoorah. Anyway…
In a world so filled with sadness, grief and misery, our lives have the power to be a ray of goodness through the bleak night. We are called by the duty of our existence, an obligation to our species, to look after one another. Though many of us are selfish in our actions and choose to obey the more primal instinct of looking after one’s self, any who can comprehend the difference between good and bad can still be that beam of light and love to others.
